Both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market close at 1 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday and will reopen on Friday for a normal trading day. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association recommends that bond markets close at 2 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday and that markets stay closed on Thursday. Friday is a regular trading day. Energy and oil products traded on Globex have an early close at 1:15 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday. Globex trading will be closed on Thursday as well, according to CME Group. Friday will be a regular trading day. European markets also are making a short day of it on Wednesday — and a long weekend. Among the big ones, U.K. and French markets close at 1 p.m. London time. The German market is closed all day. Markets won’t reopen until Monday, Dec. 29. Silvia Ascarelli
